The second album from Project MA, “Bees,” is a collection of the distinctive and carefully crafted art rock by HCE alumni Adam Fagelson and Michael Jarmer. In this transcontinental collaboration, the two musicians get all expansive and textural, add plenty of bass and drums, cool arpeggiated synthesizers, oddball lyrics, and lovely backups from returning guest musicians René Ormae-Jarmer and Willow Bacon. “Bees” is an album for a troubled planet, a country in disarray. This music not only describes the problem—but hopefully, provides something like an antidote.
